Miamisburg Vikings Grabs Lead in Fifth Inning for Victory Over Bellefontaine Chieftains
The Vikings took the lead late and defeated Chieftains 10-2 on Monday. Miamisburg Vikings trailed 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning when Justin Cooper doubled off of Nolan Robson, driving in two runs.
Miamisburg secured the victory thanks to six runs in the fifth inning. The big inning was thanks to a single by Chris Meyers, a double by Justin Cooper, a single , a single by Jake Ross, and a single by Austin Turner.
Ryan Slaughenhaupt earned the win for Vikings. He tossed seven innings, giving up two runs, four hits, striking out three, and walking one. Nolan Robson took the loss for Bellfontaine. He threw four and two-thirds innings, surrendering six runs, ten hits, striking out five, and walking one.
Miamisburg collected 13 hits. Jon Yerkins, Brandon Boxer, Tyler Grimes, and Cooper each collected multiple hits for Miamisburg Vikings. Cooper went 2-for-5 at the plate as he led the team with three runs batted in.
