Vikings News · Adam Giles and Wright State Headed to the NCAA Basketball Tournament

Adam Giles a 2015 MHS Graduate will be the first Miamisburg basketball player to participate in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament since 1970.  Adam and the Wright State Raiders defeated Cleveland State 74 – 57 to win the Horizon league tournament and earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.  As a player at MHS Adam scored over 1,000 points and set the record for most playoff points for a Viking.  The two-time captain was named MVP and First Team GWOC South as a Senior.  In the game Adam’s Raiders faced off against Sean Sims ’11 another former basketball player from MHS who now serves as an assistant coach for Cleveland State.

The previous Viking to play in the Men’s tournament was varsity assistant coach and MHS Hall of Famer Rex Gardecki when he participated as Captain of the Dayton Flyers in 1970.
It has been a banner year for boys’ basketball with the team winning the GWOC West division title and winning 19 games.  It’s been a great year for our boys’ basketball alumni, too.
Tune in to the NCAA Selection show on Sunday to find out who, when, and where Adam and the Raiders will be playing next week.
