The Miamisburg Varsity Gymnastics Team placed 1st today at the District Competition held at Lakota East High School, winning the girls the title of the 2018 Southwest Ohio District Gymnastic Champions. Junior Leah Myers placed 5th on Floor, while junior Alexandra Johnson placed 6th on Bars. Sophomore Keala McCurry placed on 5th Vault and 5th in the All Around. Additionally, sophomore Ashley Statzer placed 1st on Beam, making her the district Beam Champion. Alivia Townsend, Leah Myers, Keala McCurry, Alexandra Johnson and Ashley Statzer also received an All District Award for placing in the Top 10 today. Senior Grace Fisher was recognized as an OHSAA Scholar Athlete at the district awards this afternoon, and coach John Good was awarded District Coach of the Year.

As District Champions, the Viking Gymnasts will now travel to Columbus to compete as a team in the OHSAA State Gymnastics Competition on Friday, March 2. Leah Myers, Alexandra Johnson, Keala McCurry and Ashley Statzer will also compete in the individual portion of the state meet on Saturday, March 3.
